2005-2006 Debate Team About UsThe Rowlett High School Forensics Team (Rowlett Forensics) is the speech and debate team for Rowlett High School. We compete in tournaments all over the DFW area in events such as, Lincoln Douglas Debate, Poetry, Prose, and Extemporaneous Speaking.
Rowlett Forensics is a small, but growing, team of 11 dedicated students. We anticipate that the team will be comprised of 15 students next year. All of the students are involved in several extracurricular activities, take challenging honors and pre-AP courses, and are undeniably future leaders in the making.
Participation in debate at the high school level is an enriching and educational experience. Most colleges and universities look highly upon debate participation in admissions and financial aid decisions. However, we also have a ton of fun. We spend a lot of time together preparing for and competing in tournaments. Because of this, the team is more like a family than a class.
If you are an 8th grader in Garland ISD, or a current student at Rowlett High School, and are considering signing up for the Debate I class next year, clicking the FAQ link on the left will lead you to our Frequently Asked Questions page, which has more information about the program. You will also see on the left a link for descriptions of each of the forensic events. Finally, check out our schedule to see our tournament itinerary.
